Why I do what I do...
A therapist doesn't have to have gone through what their client is going through in order to help them, but I've found that it certainly adds a little something extra when you know your therapist gets it...
So when it comes to heartbreak and relationship issues, I assure you, I GET IT!
I know what it's like to date projects not partners. I know what it's like to pick the wrong men and attach to them way too soon. I know what it's like to starting seeing someone and feel tremendous anxiety, trying to be perfect so they won't leave. I know what it's like to be madly in love or think you finally met the one and end up getting dumped out of nowhere. I know what it's like not to get the closure or answers you so desperately want. I also know what it's like to be the one that breaks off an engagement and calls off a wedding because you finally got the courage to leave someone that was never right in the first place.
I also know what's like to repair all of that. I know how to figure out how someone ended up choosing partners like that. I know how to heal that part of someone so they no longer function that way or pick those kinds of people to be with. I know how to build inner strength and create a better life. A dream life as a matter of fact. A life I wake up grateful for every day that's filled with happiness I made for myself.
I love sharing this with the world and helping other women with similar experiences get to this place too.
Professional Background
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Master Life & Relationship Coach. I obtained my Masters of Social Work from New York University. I've been working in the mental health field for over 12 years at a large non-profit mental health organization in NJ. I’ve had the pleasure of growing in this agency over the years and have worn many hats. My current role is overseeing our Adolescent & Visitation departments that have a variety of clinical programs accross multiple counties. Throughout my career there, I have always seen private clients too, a mix of children, adults & families, because of my passion for psychotherapy. That's the reason I got into this field in the first place. Now, I’ve reached a point in my career where I want to continue doing this work, but in a space that’s all mine…so I created Be Kind To Your Mind Counseling NJ.
When working with clients, I use an integrative approach. Meaning, I use a variety therapeutic and coaching interventions from different treatment modalities I'm trained in. I find this approach to be very successful because every person is unique. What works for one, may not work for another so it's important to be a versatile clinician.
